We actually do offer training on how to write the kind of blog a company would benefit from. I actually received a call asking about how to control the content and that is one of the great things about a blog is that it is all under the owner's control. Some companies would do well to blog, but I think it comes down to who's doing the writing. The company where I work has been wrestling with this idea for two years now. The marketing people want to mold the content, the advertising people are afraid of losing control of the message, and management is old and out of touch with the concept. So we do nothing. I think that if specific individuals, trained in communications with basic writing skills, could provide content that would be worth reading and coming back for. But in my experience, if you get someone out there who has the potential to put the company in a bad light just because they're "bloggers", it could be a PR nightmare. I think it’s a mixed bag. I agree with all the points, made by John, and you too. But, as we all know, and John Lennon so aptly pointed out, "Life is what happens when you are trying to...." You are so right, that is a lot of singing. Jenn- blogging can be a "chore" and life steps in and keeps us busy from doing it. Unfortunately when it comes to small businesses it is important to maintain some consistency with a blog. Good thing most blogging platforms allow bloggers to post at different times when they are away from their computers. Hahaha. You are so right, that is a lot of singing.
